Since recovering from breast cancer Debbie Miles, an enthusiastic cyclist from Clevedon, has undertaken a range of challenges to raise money for women’s cancer charities both locally and nationally. Liz Ward a spin instructor and music teacher from Portishead lost her much-loved partner to cancer 12 years ago and her Mum is a breast cancer survivor. Justine Blaber a yoga instructor in the Clevedon and Portishead area has also lost several very close family members to breast and cervical cancer.

In June 2016, they are joining 50 other determined women to undertake the tough Women v Cancer Ride Africa bike ride. They will be cycling 350km from Mount Kilimanjaro to the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, to raise funds to help fight women’s cancers.

Debbie, Liz and Justine have pledged to raise £9000 as a group to support the work of three cancer charities – Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action. All three charities provide invaluable information and support for people diagnosed with cancer and are active in the field of cancer research.

On reaching their £9000 target for the 3 main charities, the ladies will continue raising funds for 2 local charities, BUST, a local cancer trust and St Peter’s Hospice in Bristol.

They are asking local people, business and companies to support the positive action they are taking through either sponsorship (naming you on merchandise), donations or by giving gifts as prizes for the fund raising events they are planning between now and May 2016.
